As a political science major, students will receive a BA in Political Science. They will develop an understanding of political institutions and processes in the local, state, national, and global community. Students will be prepared to think critically and act effectively as an engaged citizen.
The program examines the impact of government upon the life of the individual—and of individual citizens upon government. The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth uses scientific, philosophical, and applied perspectives to examine politics in the U.S. and around the world.
There are three concentrations available:
- International Politics
- International Security Studies
- Pre-Law
The Bachelor of Arts - Political Science - Pre-Law prepares students for law school by providing a solid foundation for future study in fields including commercial, criminal, environmental, family, labor, and tax law.
Students' courses will focus on the U.S. legal system, law and courts in relationship to other aspects of the U.S. political system, international law and courts, and the international political system. A background in law prepares them not only for a practice of law, but also for rewarding careers in advocacy, business, and education.
Studying law will develop students' analytical, logical, and creative thinking skills. They will be prepared to think critically and act effectively as an engaged citizen.
