Baylor's Aviation Sciences program propels you into an aviation career, whether in the skies or on the ground. The degree provides a balance of aeronautical theory and application combined with technical education. Available courses include:

  • Private Pilot Flight
  • Advanced Aviation Meteorology
  • Aircraft Systems
  • Aviation Law
  • Aerodynamics
Aviation Science majors choose one of two concentrations: Professional Pilot or Aircraft Dispatch.

The Professional Pilot concentration is primarily for students who want to become commercial airline pilots, although many different types of flying careers are available. Be aware that there are a limited number of flight slots for pilot students and so admission to the Professional Pilot Concentration is limited and competitive. Flight training is conducted at Baylor University's Flight Center (operated by Universal Flight Concepts) at Waco Regional Airport or at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in Waco.

The Aircraft Dispatch concentration is for students wishing to pursue a career in the safety, management, and control of commercial flight operations. This program is offered in partnership with Texas State Technical College-Waco (TSTC).

Students interested in a career as a pilot might also be interested in Baylor's Air Force ROTC Program, which is designed to build and train leaders for the United States Air Force.

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum Level of Education Required: Grade 12 / High School
  • Min GPA: 77.0% 
  • English Proficiency Requirements:
    For direct admission, applicant must be from an English speaking country or meet either of the following English test scores:
    • Min TOEFL iBT: 80
    • Min IELTS overall: 6.5
    • Min Duolingo English Test Score: 110
    • Min PTE overall: 60
