The Extended Accelerator Program is a three-semester program for students seeking an immersive English-learning experience. The program gives students a firsthand practical and cultural understanding of the Auburn University campus and the Auburn, Alabama, area through its contextual curriculum. Upon completion of the program, students progress into year two of their undergraduate education with a full year’s worth of academic credits.

The Department of Horticulture has been recognized nationally for its research programs, its student-centered faculty members and its high rate of employment for graduates. Students will learn how to establish, propagate, harvest and manage fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants. They will also learn the principles of landscape design to create and manage aesthetically pleasing environments.

The landscape horticulture track will provide students with the opportunity to combine the science of horticulture and your creative abilities in creating aesthetically beautiful, inviting and functional environments. They will learn valuable skills that will provide them with the competitive edge employers are looking for. Landscape horticulturists use the principles of design and the appropriate plant material to create both residential and commercial landscapes.

Admission Requirements

• Minimum Level of Education Required: Grade 12 / High School
• Min GPA: 63.0% Convert grades
• English Proficiency Requirements:
  For direct admission, applicant must be from an English speaking country or meet either of the following English test scores:

  • Min TOEFL iBT: 60 (Min Listening: 12.0, Min Reading: 12.0, Min Speaking: 12.0, Min Writing: 12.0)

  • Min IELTS overall: 5 (Min Listening: 4.5, Min Reading: 4.5, Min Speaking: 4.5, Min Writing: 4.5)

  • Min PTE overall: 40 (Min Listening: 36, Min Reading: 36, Min Speaking: 36, Min Writing: 36)

  For conditional admission, you are required to provide English proficiency scores:

  • Min TOEFL iBT: 1

  • Min IELTS overall: 1

  • Min PTE overall: 10
