The Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering program prepares graduates to have knowledge covering aeronautical engineering, and some topics from astronautical engineering. The program also prepares graduates to have design competence that includes integration of aeronautical or astronautical topics.
The students of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department have ample opportunities for internship and co-ops in the metropolitan area, with corporations such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Mitsubishi Power Generation, and Siemens. Although our degree programs do not require internships or co-ops to meet graduation requirements, a good percentage of our students enjoy the possibility to participate in these experiences.
Our students also enjoy the chance to participate in faculty’s funded research, gaining hands-on experience in the laboratory that will strengthen their academic foundation, and enhance their personal skill sets. Many of our undergraduate students have been recognized at the university and national levels for their research, publications, and conference participation. The MAE pupils are very active in extracurricular activities, through membership in student organizations and clubs, such as American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Student-led teams have participated in, and have been rewarded for, annual competitions sponsored by NASA, The United States Navy, SAE, The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the Florida Space Grant Consortium (FSGC).
